This is a waiting list for individuals who would like to be notified once this course can be scheduled.
Dates: TBD
Format: Online, self-paced, with 1:1 support from instructors by virtual appointment
Duration: 8 weeks
Schedule: Weekly online modules with a commitment of approximately 6 hours per week (48-64 hours total)
Overview:
Individuals interested in entering a paraprofessional/teacher assistant role in schools. This program is designed for rising high school seniors and adult learners. This curriculum was developed in partnership with local school districts. The course prepares individuals for success on the ParaPro Exam. Students will have additional opportunities to create custom content, professional development, and district cultures to help prepare for a successful transition into a career in education.
To be successful in this course, students must engage regularly with the course material and complete assignments on a weekly basis. Failure to do so may result in falling behind, insufficient understanding of key concepts, and ultimately, not meeting the minimum requirements to pass the course.
Modules Covered:
Student Behavior and Classroom Management
- Develop the skills and knowledge of how to maintain a safe and effective learning environment, deescalate student behaviors, and provide continued support in a challenging environment.
Working with Students
- Understand the approaches and needs of English Language Learners (ELL) and Exceptional Student Education (ESE) in a differentiated classroom.
Daily Duties
- Understanding the role of Paraprofessionals and how they adapt to the needs of students and schools.
Applying and Interviewing with Districts
- Practice applying and interviewing for real district positions and ensure you have the resources and experience to succeed.
ETS ParaPro Test Prep
- All Test Prep sections are created from actual exam questions and materials.
- Essay and short answer practice questions
- Elementary math through Algebra and Geometry (no calculator needed).
- Strategies for reading short and long passages.
Add/Drop Policy: Students are eligible for a full refund if communicated within week 1 via email to our office as well as the instructor of record. Students dropped from the course will no longer have access to course materials and are ineligible for any credentials related to the course if/when a refund is provided.
Students are required to complete introductory assignments or acknowledgment of enrollment within 1 week of the course start date. Failure to do so will result in the student being dropped from the course/program without refund.
Cancellation Policy
If a program is canceled, you will be notified by email and phone and issued a full refund within 20 business days. Individuals who cancel after the start of a program will not receive a refund. No refunds will be granted after a student accesses the online course materials or 30 days after registration, whichever comes first.
